Nikon 17-35 mm Wide Angle
This is one of the best wide angle lenses in the market today. At f/2.8 this lens is amazingly fast, tack sharp & absolutely no color distortion.
But when compared to the Tamron f/2.8 18 – 35 mm I found that the edges on the 17 – 35 mm Nikon were a lot softer. In many cases, the vignetting on the Nikon lens is apparent.
Being wide angle, it is hard to use any of the usual filters – either the screw in filters or the drop down filters. I had to use a $ 200+ B+W filter on the Nikon or Tamron wide angle lens to avoid any cropping or vignetting.
The Nikon 17-35 mm is available at a retail price of under $ 2000.00. If you look long enough at eBay, you could get a decent version of the lens for under $ 1200.00.
